If you have already made your block and it measures 12 x 14 Jan suggests you simply cut one inch from the top and the bottom then appliqué the windows on as she did. Tic Tac Baskets pattern Should read: Cut two 19 ½” x 3 ½” outer borders. Sew together and sew to left side. Cut a 3 ½” x 38 ½” outer border and sew to right side

Block Instructions: (These measurements include seam allowances) Cut a 20 ½ x 20 ½ background block. Cut center block appliqué shapes from freezer paper using Freezer Paper Applique Instructions. Pin, glue stick or baste the shapes into place on the background referring to photo. Applique in place. Cut four 10 ½ x 10 ½ corner blocks. Cut corner block appliqué shapes from freezer paper using Freezer Paper Applique Instructions. Pin, glue stick or baste the shapes into place on the background referring to photo. Applique in place. Make eight 10 finished half square triangles. Cut four 10 7/8 squares of light and dark fabrics. Cut in half diagonally and sew one light to one dark. Trim and press to dark. Sew triangle squares into four sets of 2 squares each referring to photo. Sew corner squares, center square and triangle squares into 3 rows. Row #1: Corner square, horizontal triangle square set, corner square Row #2: Vertical triangle square set, center block, vertical triangle square set Row #3: Corner square, horizontal triangle square set, corner square
Border Instructions: Cut an 84 ½ x 10 ½ border. Fold border in two and press to mark center. Cut approximately 98 of ½ finished bias from a 10 square using bias directions. Referring to photo and freezer paper appliqué instructions, appliqué basket, vine, flowers leaves, hearts, stars, acorns and berries to background.

Frosty & Friends The instructions should read:
Right Border: Cut a 2 ½” X 12 ½” right side border. Sew 2 triangle squares to the bottom of the border and sew to the right side. Bottom Border: Cut an 8 ½” x 2 ½” bottom border and a 10 ½” x 2 ½” bottom border. On the pattern pages for both quilts, the pointed post pattern should read "Cut 1, 2R" | |

The fabric requirements for the large bird border are for a pieced border. If you would like it to be all 1 piece it will require 2 ½ yds

February and March 2009 Mystery Quilt Blocks


February and March Backgrounds should be:
" Cut a 15” square in half diagonally to make 2 triangle background blocks"
Instead of 15 1/2" If you have already cut a 15 1/2" square diagonally, trim 1/4" off of the outside edges (not the edge you sew to the center block)
